Component Planning Overview

The Component Planning application automates the calculation of component requirements and builds the results into Demand Planning’s purchasing plans.
Component requirement calculations
· Parent demand forecasts are exploded to create initial component plan
· Support for multi-level bills-of material
· User defined setting for component safety stock levels
· ‘Nets’ initial plans against parent, component and sub-assembly inventories
· Planning can be done daily, weekly, semi-monthly or monthly time windows
Inquiries and reports
· Plans: review planned work orders, purchase orders and warehouse transfers
· Demand: Drill up and down through bills to understand sources of demand
· Availability: Review current inventory, planned purchase orders and their allocation to forecasts
· Planning Errors: Drill into asset-up and timing errors generated by the planning tool
