Low margins hurt profitability, and unjustifiably high margins open the door for competitors to steal customers.   Based on the simple theory that “similar customer should pay similar prices”, we’ll work together to identify customers with unreasonable margins.  We’ll use OverDrive’s Margin Manager application to group and stratify customers and generate ‘margin maps’ to identify outlying customers.  In the last session, you’ll learn how to use the Margin Manager to analyze the results and formulate action plans.  We’ll leave the tool with you so you can complete the analysis on your own time.


 Session 1

°         Introduction to the Margin Management tools & concepts

°         Define customer market segments for margin maps

                                               

     Session 2 (OverDrive only)

°         Install the Margin Management application

°         Implement ‘pricing peer groups’ and create margin maps

°         Review margin maps to prepare for Session 3

 

     Session 3

°         Review margin maps to look for opportunities & threats

°         Make plans for finishing the analysis

°         Review additional sales management tools (as needed)
